Collier County Arrest Reports 2022: Year in Review

The Collier County Sheriff's Office released its annual arrest report for 2022, providing an in-depth look at the total number of arrests made throughout the year. According to the report, there was a 10% increase in arrests compared to the previous year, with a total of 17,432 arrests made in Collier County. The numbers reflect a steady increase in arrests throughout the year, with a peak in May and August. "This increase may be attributed to various factors, including an uptick in home invasions and property crimes," stated Sheriff Kevin Rambosk in a press conference.

Categories of Arrests by Month

The arrest report shows a significant variation in the types of crimes committed across each month of 2022. For instance:

• January saw 1,384 arrests, with 241 for felony offenses and 1,143 for misdemeanors.

• The month of May led the pack with 1,593 total arrests, including 360 felony offenses and 1,233 misdemeanors.

• August was close behind May with 1,567 arrests, comprising 373 felony offenses and 1,194 misdemeanors.

• December had a relative calm, with only 1,193 arrests reported.

Most Common Felony Offenses

Felony offenses accounted for 29.4% of the total 2022 arrest total in Collier County. According to the report, the top felony offenses were:

1. **Drug-Related Offenses**: With 744 arrests, this category recorded the highest number of felony offenses. "The growing presence of illegal substances, particularly cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl, has led to an increase in related arrests," noted Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk.

2. **Property Crimes**: This category accounted for 405 felony offenses, with burglary and larceny top of that list.

3. **Aggravated Assaults**: 351 felony arrests were made for aggravated assaults, which include a range of offenses from domestic violence incidents to street-level robberies.

4. **Domestic Violence-Related Assaults**: 214 felony offenses were categorized under domestic violence-related assaults.
